Complete four front-facing half pictures: ladybug, broad beetle, round beetle and a firefly. Each activity prints the left side and leaves the right side for drawing. The dotted vertical line is the mirror axis. A separate four-page answer file shows the completed reflection for each picture in the same order.
Use the Dotted Line as Your Mirror
Print the Half Pictures file for the activity and keep Mirror Answers as a separate reference. Begin with the large outside shape. Choose a point on the printed side, notice its height and distance from the center line, and place the matching point at the same height and distance on the right. Join several matching points to build the missing curve or edge.
Work outwards from features that meet the center line. A nose, circle, roof point or body division on that line may be only half printed. Finish its missing half rather than drawing a second whole feature beside it. Use a pencil so you can adjust spacing before coloring.
Ladybug
The ladybug has a round shell with two spots on its left half. Copy the shell boundary, then add two matching spots at the same heights on the right. Three legs extend from the left side and an antenna rises above the head; each needs a partner. The straight middle division follows the dotted axis instead of becoming a second line beside it.

Broad Beetle
This beetle has a broad shell and one long interior line on each side of the center. Match the shell's width before placing that straight detail. The three legs attach at different heights, so copy them from their actual attachment points rather than putting them in one row. Complete the polygon-shaped head and antenna above the body to finish the front-facing view.

Round Beetle
Look for the large oval mark inside the round shell. It belongs away from the central division, leaving a clear gap between the two mirrored marks in the answer. Copy the head and shell before that interior oval. Finish by matching the three bent legs and antenna. The outline is wider than the firefly's, so follow this sheet's own curve.

Firefly
The firefly has the narrowest, longest body in this set. Two horizontal divisions cross its lower part and meet the dotted center line. Continue those divisions onto the right after drawing the outer curve. Add the matching head, antenna and three legs. Keeping the body tall and narrow preserves the difference between this picture and the three broader beetles.

Compare the Finished Reflection
Once the outside is complete, copy the smaller interior marks. Check each mark against its own partner: height first, distance from the center second, and the direction of any sloping line last. Reflection reverses left and right. A diagonal on the left will slope the other way on the right when both lean toward the center.
Use the corresponding answer page to compare your result. It shows one whole picture made from the same left half, including the interior decoration. You can color after completing the drawing; matching colors on both sides is optional. The complete PDF contains all eight pages, with the four half pictures first and their four answers after them. Print only the activity pages when you want to keep the answers aside.

Choose A4 (210 x 297 mm) or US Letter (8.5 x 11 inches) for the paper in your printer. The two sizes contain the same designs. The complete file repeats the separate files in one convenient PDF; it does not add extra activities.
