Compare the Same Places

Each page places A above B. The lower picture keeps the same bench or path and the same positions; six objects have disappeared. Circle the empty places in B rather than circling matching objects in A. A whole missing picture counts as one change.

Work from left to right across the upper row, then compare the lower row. For a first attempt, cover the lower part with spare paper and look at only one row. You can point to a position in A and ask what should be in that place in B without giving away every answer.

Try Both Garden Pictures

The bench puzzle includes a butterfly, flower, bee, snail, watering can and leaf. The path puzzle uses a dragonfly, seed packet, ladybug, caterpillar, flowerpot and ant. The two pages have different objects and landmarks, so begin the second with a fresh look.

A child can work alone or take turns with a partner, each naming one missing picture before circling its place. Stop after six, then check the corresponding answer page. Nothing needs to be cut out, and color differences are not part of the answer.

Use the Separate Answers

The answer sheets number all six empty places in the lower picture and list the missing objects. Keep them off the table until the search is finished, or open the answer PDF on a screen instead of printing it. A correct circle can be larger than the numbered example; what matters is the changed place.

The activity-only download has two pages; the answer-only file has two more. The complete pack combines all four. Use pencil so a circle can be changed if the child chooses a matching landmark by mistake.

Print a Comfortable Looking Size

Choose A4 or US Letter and portrait orientation. Fit to printable area is suitable; this puzzle does not require exact measurements. Check that both garden scenes fit on the first sheet and the smaller pictures are clear before printing more copies.

The illustrations are colored, but all six clues are missing objects rather than subtle changes of shade. If choosing grayscale, check the first print for recognizable pictures and clear outlines.
